They are part of the New Zealand Pound banknotes series. The Reserve Bank of New Zealand started issuing these 1 Pound Fleming Signature New Zealand Banknote in 1947. They were withdrawn from circulation in 1967.

This one pound banknote portrays Captain James Cook, British explorer. The words ‘The Reserve Bank of New Zealand’ are printed on the NZ £1 banknote.
