The Great Southern Land Proof Chrysoprase Silver Coin Deriving its rich green colour from nickel, chrysoprase is a striking gemstone that makes for an eye-catching piece of jewellery when polished. Known as ‘Australian jade’, the vibrant green insert in this coin perfectly represents the lush habitats and remarkable biodiversity found in Australia’s rainforests.
DESIGN:
The map-shaped chrysoprase insert is framed by depictions of iconic rainforest fauna and flora, including a flying fox, possum, tree snake, kingfisher, crocodile, butterfly, tree frog, cassowary, and an orb-weaving spider. Alongside representations of plant life, the design also features the ‘P125’ mintmark, celebrating The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary in 2024, along with the coin’s weight, purity, and year-date.
The coin bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, as well as the monetary denomination.
PRESENTATION:
The coin is housed in a classic display case with a clear lid and packaged with an illustrated shipper. It is accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.
